From November 9 to 11, 2024, the sam scherrer contemporary Gallery will showcase 34 unique lithographs, created through a collaboration between artist Valentin Magaro and Steindruckerei Wolfensberger.

In 2012, Valentin Magaro received a grant from the canton of Thurgau to immerse himself in the technique of lithography at the Wolfensberger lithographic printing company. Since then, lithography has become an integral part of Magaro’s artistic practice, complementing his painting and drawing. Over the years, he has collaborated with Thomi Wolfensberger on numerous print projects. In addition to limited-edition single sheets, three major leporellos have been produced that showcase the full range of Magaro’s work in both content and form. Alongside clearly defined editions, experimental prints are also frequently created. For the exhibition Diversity in the World Theatre, Magaro and Wolfensberger have produced a series of unique prints. Sam Scherrer Contemporary Gallery is now presenting 34 exceptional lithographs from a diverse and wide-ranging selection of works.

In this current selection of unique lithographs, Magaro skillfully combines fantastical figures, fictional worlds, and repetitive patterns to create a “diverse” world theatre. He draws from a varied repertoire of motifs, with references to art history as well as imagery inspired by his surroundings and imagination.
