The painter duo Bošković Scarth breaks away from the myth of the lone genius artist. Instead of focusing on individual creation, they engage in a dialogue using brush and paint. Lorenz Bachofner Bošković and Vincent Scarth paint side by side, sometimes directly onto walls or objects. Their work results in images that tell everyday stories, characterized by a love for imperfection, empathy, and a sharp sense of observation. Whether depicting urban scenes or capturing impressions from trips into nature, the duo’s paintings are accessible, humorous, and playful—yet, for this very reason, not lacking in depth. Time and again, they manage to convey the vitality of a moment in their compositions.
Bošković-Scarth received research grants from the Thurgau Cultural Foundation in 2021 and 2023, as well as work grants from the cantons of Zurich and Aargau in 2023. Many of the duo’s works are held in private and institutional collections, including the Kunstmuseum Thurgau and the Canton of Zurich’s collection.
Lorenz Bachofner Bošković (*1990) and Vincent Scarth (*1992) live and work in Zurich.
