Kaspar Thalmann (1968) has been working as a freelance architect, designer, and photographer since 1995. After studying architecture at ETH Zurich, he contributed to a monograph on Max Bill’s studio house in Zurich-Höngg. In 2015 he published his book Oder das Tal aufgeben, which explores the avalanche barriers in St. Antönien (GR). Photographs from this project earned him the Swiss Press Photo Award in the Everyday Life category in 2016.

His photographic work is represented in various collections and has been shown in numerous exhibitions. In his long-term projects, Thalmann focuses primarily on infrastructure, spatial planning, and the notion of homeland – for example in Gruss aus Uster, Fotomuseum Uster, and Unsere Gletscher sterben schön.
