Exhibition extended until 19 December 2025.
Visits are possible by appointment.
Kaspar Thalmann’s photographs take us to a place that few people ever visit and hardly anyone truly knows: a substation in Switzerland, a hub of the European power grid where national and international lines intersect, are controlled, and regulated.
Through the artist’s lens, the sober infrastructure reveals a dimension beyond pure functionality. Thalmann’s photographs are not a classic inventory but rather a visual exploration of an infrastructure that is both indispensable to our daily lives and increasingly fragile.
With its high-quality reproductions and creatively staged images, the book (German only) draws attention to issues of security of supply, resource dependency, and European cooperation.
