Marianne Halter & Mario Marchisella have been working together on artistic projects since 2008. Their collaborative practice explores the relationship between space and action, sound and image, and manifests in a range of media including video, sound installations, video sculpture, objects, and printmaking. Rooted in everyday actions and places, their works make the temporality of these experiences palpable.
Context plays a central role in their practice — sometimes creating a striking contrast with the exhibition site, where a work appears to land like a kind of UFO; at other times, the landscape or urban environment, its use, appearance, or the (hi)stories of a place become the core subject.
Their works are represented in the collections of the City and Canton of Zurich, the South African National Gallery, the Swiss National Library (Graphic Arts Collection), and the Graphic Arts Collection of ETH Zurich.
Residency grants have taken them to South Africa, China, Italy, and the USA. In 2026, they will work in London as part of an artist residency awarded by the Landis & Gyr Foundation.
